Overview of the Project

 

Airport Authority of India (AAI), in its endeavor for the view to improve the women's Health and Hygiene, had given the responsibility to Kalyanmayee-AAIWWA for the installation of vending machines and incinerators and organizing awareness camp in the community. This project is aiming to improve the easy availability / access to sanitary napkins for girls / women by installing one vending machine in three locations (School/Slum area/ community center etc.,) per city to girls/women from underprivileged section society. To ensure safe disposal of Used Sanitary Napkin, 1 Incinerator at each location shall also be provided to keep the environment clean. Awareness programme among school girls about scientific understanding about menstruation cycle and awareness for using sanitary napkins and to provide easy access to it. Awareness camps for underprivileged women/girls on menstrual hygiene, thereby promoting safe and hygienic sanitation practice among them.
 
This project is running in the following 20 cities: Jammu, Lucknow, Varanasi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahemdabad, Indore, Bhopal, Goa, Pune, Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Trivandrum, Trichy, Mangalore, and Guwahati.


Scope of the Project


• Installation of Vending machine and Incinerator at 60 Schools.
• 1200 women have to be covered through the awareness camp and 24000 women have to be covered in 20 cities.
• The target of conducting school camps is 240 in 60 schools of 20 cities.


Outcome of the Project


• 391 awareness camp conduted in two years and 49297 women covered in awareness camp.
• 17207 napkins pouches sold in 20 cities through 60 vending machines of 60 schools.
• 384 awareness camp conducted in 60 schools in two years and 1,04,147 school girls participated in the awareness camp.
