
Overview of the Project
Airport Authority of India (AAI), in its endeavor for the benefit of underprivileged section of society, given responsibility to Kalyanmayee-AAIWWA for organizing high quality screening for Cervical Cancers to Women from low income group, under the CSR initiatives of AAI. The purpose of this programme was a commitment to protect and to reduce the incidence of, and mortality from, cervical cancer by delivering a systematic, quality assured screening programme for the women of unprivileged society. Kalyanmayee conducted Cervical Screening Checkup camp at various airports in collaboration with Asia Oceania research organization on Genital Infections and Neoplasia, India (A0GIN-India) for women aged 30-60 years from underprivileged section of society, which is the target age for cancer screening. Cervical cancer is the most common and leading cancer cause of death of Indian Women.
Objective of the Project
TO PROVIDE FREE SCREENING SERVICES, TREATMENT AND AWARENESS ABOUT THE CERVICAL CANCER IN SLUM AREAS AND AMONG THE LOW INCOME STRATA.
Scope of the Project
The project started in 2017 and completed in March, 2020. During 3 years of projects total of 144 camps should have been held and 7200 beneficiaries have to be covered through screening camps in 14 cities. 14 cities were Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Jabalpur, and Guwahati.
Outcome of the Project:
In Year 2017-2020, a total of 145 camps conducted in 14 cities and 8260 women screened through cervical cancer screening camps whereas 460 women treated after the diagnosis positive.
